PublicationArticle Alpha particle induced reactions on copper and tantalum(Springer India, 1991) A.V. Mohan Rao; S. Mukherjee; J. Rama RaoAlpha particle induced reactions in the target elements copper and tantalum were studied. The excitation functions of63Cu(α, n) +65Cu(α, 3 n),65Cu(α, 2 n),181Ta(α, 2 n) and181Ta(α, 4 n) were measured up to 75 MeV. Eight new energy point cross-sections were measured for the first time. The experimental results were compared with the predictions of updated hybrid model (ALICE/85/300) as well as with index model using the initial exciton number n 0=4 (4poh) and level density parameter, a=A/8. A general agreement was found for all the reactions with both the models. © 1991 the Indian Academy of Sciences.PublicationArticle Alpha-induced reactions on gold(1988) N.L. Singh; A.V. Mohan Rao; S. Mukherjee; R. Upadhyay; R.K. Jain; S.K. Bose; L. Chaturvedi; J. Rama RaoThe excitation functions of the 197Au(( alpha ,n), ( alpha ,2n), ( alpha ,3n), (d,2pn), ( alpha , alpha n) and ( alpha , alpha 3n)) reactions were measured up to 75 MeV. The experimental data were compared with the calculated values obtained by means of a hybrid model (ALICE/85/300) using the initial exciton number n0=4(4p0h) and the level density parameters a=A/8. A general agreement was found for all except the ( alpha , alpha n) and ( alpha , alpha 3n) reactions, where the disagreement was by about two orders of magnitude.PublicationArticle Analysis of the excitation functions from alpha particle induced reactions up to 120 MeV(Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, 1997) S. Mukherjee; N.L. Singh; A.V. Mohan Rao; L. Chaturvedi; P.P. SinghAlpha particle induced reactions in the target element niobium were investigated in the energy range 30 to 120MeV. Thirteen excitation functions were measured for the production of 96Tc, 95m+gTc, 95Nb, 92mNb, 90Nb, 88Zr, 88Zr, 88Zr, 88Y, 87m+gY and 88Y. Secondly a comparison with a pre-equilibrium index model has been made using the initial exciton number n0 = 4 (4p0h) and level density parameter a = A/8. In general the shapes of the excitation functions were fairly well reproduced with the model predictions. However, the agreement between theoretical and experimental excitation functions for the (a, zzxnyp) type of reactions is only within a factor of 5.PublicationArticle Investigation of alpha particle induced reactions on thulium(Springer India, 1992) A.V. Mohan Rao; S. Mukherjee; J.Rama RaoAlpha particle induced reactions on the target element thulium were investigated up to 75 MeV, using foil-stack activation technique and Ge(Li) gamma ray spectroscopy method. Excitation functions for eight reactions of the type169Tm(α, xn), x=1 - 4;169Tm(α, pxn), x=3; and169Tm(α, αxn), x=1, 2, 4 were investigated. Of these, four reactions169Tm(α, p3 n),169Tm(α, αn),169Tm(α, α2 n)169Tm(α, α4 n), were studied for the first time and in the remaining four reactions, some 19 new energy-point cross-sections were measured for the first time. The experimental cross-sections were compared with the predictions of pre-equilibrium hybrid model, as well as the more recent index model, using the initial excition number, n 0=4 (4 p0 h). Both the models show better agreement in respect of (α, xnyp) type of reactions. However they are equally bad for (α, αxn) type of reactions which involve the α-particle in the exit channels, and for which some direct reaction contributions are indicated. © 1993 Indian Academy of Sciences.PublicationArticle Non-equilibrium effects in alpha-particle-induced reactions in light, medium and heavy nuclei up to 120 mev(1987) J. Rama Rao; A.V. Mohan Rao; S. Mukherjee; R. Upadhyay; N.L. Singh; S. Agarwal; L. Chaturvedi; P.P. SinghAlpha-particle-induced reactions on the target elements vanadium, niobium and holmium were investigated in the energy range from 10 to 120 MeV, using the foil stack activation technique and Ge(Li) gamma-ray spectroscopy. The excitation functions of six reactions of the (alpha, xn) type were studied, of which three reactions 51V(alpha, n)54Mn, 165Ho(alpha ,2n)167Tm and 165Ho(alpha ,4n)165Tm were measured for the first time in the energy range from 80 to 120 MeV. A preliminary theoretical comparison with the pre-equilibrium hybrid model was made using an initial exciton number of n0=4 (4p0h) and general agreement was found for all except the 51V(alpha , n) and 93Nb(alpha , n) reactions at high energies. © 1987 IOP Publishing Ltd.PublicationArticle Pre-equilibrium analysis of the excitation functions of (α, xn) reactions on silver and holmium(Società Italiana di Fisica, 1991) S. Mukhrjee; A.V. Mohan Rao; J.Rama RaoThe excitation functions of the109Ag (α, 2n),107Ag(α,2n),109Ag(α,4n),165Ho (α, xn);x=1, ..., 4 reactions were studied upto 75 MeV, using the stacked foil activation technique and Ge(Li) gamma-ray spectroscopy method. Of these, four reactions were studied for the first time using high-resolution Ge(Li)/HPGe detector, and some twenty-three new energy point cross-sections were measured for the first time. A comparison with pre-equilibrium, hybrid model (ALICE/85/300) and the more recent index model was made using the initial exciton number n o=4 (4p 0h), and a general agreement was found in all the reactions. © 1991 Società Italiana di Fisica.
