Chloride Resistance of Ordinary Portland Cement Concrete
    (1998) D. Singhal; R. Agrawal; B.D. Nautiyal
Investigations to study the behaviour of PCC exposed to aggressive chloride environment with increased chloride salt concentrations right from the time of demoulding indicated that absorption of chloride salts in PCC increased with the increase in chloride salt concentration. The strength of PCC cubes cured in chloride environment reduced significantly at all chloride concentrations after 120 days. This reduction in strength was mainly due to the formation of expansive salts like magnesium chloride hydrate and calcium chloride hydrate. The formation of magnesium chloride hydrate also resulted in loss of cementitious properties This paper gives details of the investigations and the results obtained are discussed.
