PublicationArticle Giant aneurysm of the internal carotid artery in the carotid canal(1979) S.K. Gupta; O.P. Gupta; M.M. Singh; D.N. Varma; R. KesharwaniA case of giant aneurysm of the intrapetrous portion of the internal carotid artery, with intracranial and extra-cranial in an eight-year-old girl, is reported. Intracranial extension was demonstrated by the presence of a large sac projecting above the petrous shadow in a frontal carotid angiogram, and upward displacement of the middle cerebral artery in the post-ligation angiogram. Extracranial extension was shown clinically as a pulsating mass in the nasopharynx, and also radiologically as a widened medial coronoid space. Erosive destruction of the petrous bone and its neighbourhood produced palsies of the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th cranial nerves. There was appreciable recovery in the cranial nerve palsies when the patient was assessed clinically two weeks after ligation of the internal carotid artery.PublicationArticle Giant cell tumour of short tubular bones of hands and feet. VarmaThe roentgen features of nasopharyngeal angio‐fibromas, malignant tumours and antro‐choanal polypi are described. Techniques employed are lateral skiagram of nasopharynx, submentovertical view, Water's projection and contrast naso‐pharyngography. The value of Water's view to show lateral displacement of the coronoid process and the submento‐vertical view to show widening of infratemporal fossa and inferior orbital fissure as signs of extra‐pharyngeal extension of angiofibromas are discussed. A case of cylindroma is reported. Contrast nasopharyngography is advocated in cases with unexplained otologic symptoms and cranial nerve palsies. Contrast nasopharyngography provides a permanent record of tumour regarding size and position before and after treatment. This procedure done post‐operatively documents the extra‐pharyngeal extensions of angiofibromas. Copyright © 1973, Wiley Blackwell. TuliClinical and radiological features of two cases of spondylo epiphyseal dysplasia tarda are reported. Commonest manifestation of this dysplasia is precocious degenerative arthritis. Value of spine film showing universal spondyly in such cases is stressed to arrive at a correct diagnosis. In view of its familial incidence, other family members should be identified by clinical and X ray methods and proper advice given. Differential diagnosis from dysplasia epiphysalis multiplex tarda is discussed. Brief review of the literature is given.PublicationArticle Uterocutaneous fistula(BMJ Publishing Group, 1993) S.K. Gupta; V.K. Shukla; D.N. Varma; S.K. RoyFistulous communications of the uterus are relatively unknown. We report in this paper the first case to our knowledge of uterocutaneous fistula which developed following a septic abortion induced by introduction of Laminaria tent into the uterus.
