PublicationArticle Effect of ajoene on Tetranychus urticae Koch as compared with some pesticides(1996) R.N. Singh; B. Prithiviraj; U.P. Singh; P.K. Singh; K.G. WagnerAcaricidal effect of ajoene, a constituent of garlic (Allium sativum L.), was tested against twospotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae Koch) along with some conventionally used pesticides. Complete mortality (100 %) by ajoene was observed at 0.075 % after 14 h of treatment, which is almost at par with other chemicals used in the experiment. At lower concentration (0.05 %), it affected fecundity and juvenile survival, only 37.5 % of juvenile survived at 0.05 % concentration. However, sex ratio was not affected. Results suggest that ajoene, besides having direct acaricidal effect, can also check resurgence of the pest. Use of ajoene for the control of T. urticae Koch under field conditions is suggested.PublicationArticle Effect of ajoene, a constituent of garlic (Allium sativum), on powdery mildew (Erysiphe pisi) of pea (Pisum sativum)(1995) U.P. Singh; G.D. Mishra; S.P. Singh; Samarketu; K.G. WagnerThe synergistic effects of ajoene and the microwave power density memories of water on germination inhibition of some fungal spores are examined. The study reveals power memory varying different synergistic effects of different concentrations of ajoene on the inhibition of spore germination. © 1995 IFMBE.
