Correlation between AgNOR count and subjective AgNOR pattern assessment score in cytology and histology of breast lumps
    (2001) A.K. Khanna; M.A. Ansari; M. Kumar; A. Khanna
OBJECTIVE: To find the correlation of argyrophilic nucleolar organizer region (AgNOR) count and subjective AgNOR pattern assessment (SAPA) score in cytology and histology of breast lumps. STUDY DESIGN: The study group consisted of 73 patients (46 malignant, 27 benign) with breast lumps. In all cases, fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) samples and histologic specimens were studied by conventional and silver staining for AgNORs. RESULTS: AgNOR count and SAPA score were helpful in differentiating benign from malignant tumors in both the cytologic smear and histologic specimen. AgNOR count was 6.94±2.74 in FNAC and 6.57±2.73 in histology of malignant tumors, while in benign tumors it was 2.75 ± 0.74 in FNAC and 2.68±0.77 in histology. SAPA score was 9.02±4.60 in FNAC and 8.76±2.34 in histology in malignant tumors and 5.87±0.93 in FNAC and 5.82± 0.83 in histology in benign tumors. CONCLUSION: Both AgNOR count and SAPA score gave similar results, but SAPA score is a more convenient, reproducible and rapid method of AgNOR evaluation.

    Foot infections
    (2005) M.A. Ansari; V.K. Shukla
Infections of the foot are very variable, some being complex in nature, causing pain, morbidity, and even mortality. In patients with diabetes mellitus, foot infections are common, ranging from chronic bacterial or fungal infections to serious limb-threatening ones. To manage infections, a sound knowledge of anatomy is essential. This article reviews the problems with respect to recent evidence and provides pathways to management and suggestions of changes with potential to wound healing. © 2005 Sage Publications.

    Impact of Zn substitution on phase formation and superconductivity of Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu 3-xZnxO10-δ with x = 0.0, 0.015, 0.03, 0.06, 0.09 and 0.12
(2005) R.B. Saxena; Rajiv Giri; V.P.S. Awana; H.K. Singh; M.A. Ansari; B.V. Kumaraswamy; Anurag Gupta; Rashmi Nigam; K.P. Singh; H. Kishan; O.N. Srivastava
Samples of series Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca 2Cu3-xZnxO10-δ with x = 0.0, 0.015, 0.03, 0.06, 0.09 and 0.12 are synthesized by solid-state reaction route. All the samples crystallize in tetragonal structure with majority (> 90%) of Bi-2223 (Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10) phase (c-lattice parameter ∼ 36 Å). The proportion of Bi-2223 phase decreases slightly with an increase in x. The lattice parameters a and c of main phase (Bi-2223) do not change significantly with increasing x. Superconducting critical transition temperature (Tc) decreases with x as evidenced by both resistivity [ρ(T)] and ac magnetic susceptibility [χ(T)] measurements. Interestingly the decrement of Tc is not monotonic and the same saturates at around 96 K for x > 0.06. In fact Tc decreases fast (∼ 10 K/at%) for x = 0.015 and 0.03 samples and later nearly saturates for higher x values. Present results of Zn doping in Bi-2223 system are compared with other Zn-doped HTSC (high temperature superconducting) systems, namely the RE-123 (REBa2Cu3O7) and La-214 ((La, Sr)2CuO4). © World Scientific Publishing Company.

Productivity, nitrogen balance and economics of winter maize (Zea mays) as influenced by QPM cultivars and nitrogen levels
(2014) Hari Om; S.P. Singh; J.K. Singh; R.N. Singh; M.A. Ansari; R.L. Meena; Brijesh Yadav
The experimental findings suggests that SEEDTEC 2324 proved superior over other cultivars for increasing yield of winter maize and application of 240 kg N/ha was found most suitable for achieving higher yield and profitability of winter maize in eastern Uttar Pradesh conditions. Further investigations are required to bring yields of QPM cultivars at par with the best normal endosperm cultivars.

    Steady transverse magnetohydrodynamic nonviscous flows
(Società Italiana di Fisica, 1979) R. Babu; M.A. Ansari
Steady plane flows of an inviscid incompressible fluid with infinite electrical conductivity in the presence of transverse magnetic field are studied. The flow equations are simplified by introducing the total pressure P=p+μH 2/2 and a partial differential equation for the total pressure P relative to the stream line co-ordinates (for a flow whose geometry is known and such that its stream lines are not straight lines) has been deduced and solved. Lastly, vortex flow and plane radial flow are also discussed. © 1979 Società Italiana di Fisica.
