Women-centric AI: A step towards empowerment
(IGI Global, 2025) Neharshi Srivastava; Mani Sachdev; Monika Gwalani; Meenakshi Bajpai; Saad Ullah Khan; Mukta Arora; Pranshuta Arora
This research paper, "Women- Centric AI: A Step Towards Empowerment," reveals how artificial intelligence can be used in a positive way toward gender equity and greater inclusivity. The critical focus of the study addresses intrinsic bias in the contemporary functioning of AI systems, with particular emphasis on women being the victims of the discriminatory behavior of such AI- based systems. It states that, for the sake of building women- centric AI systems, women's concerns in designing such systems need to be integrated so they remain proactive creators and decision-makers. Qualitative methodology and thematic analysis of expert interviews identify defining features of women- centric AI that can be adapted to meet the challenges specific to women. Targeted AI solutions can drastically reduce the digital gender gap and offer more tailored support in health, education, and employment. Ethical considerations include diverse datasets and gender impact assessments for equitable AI development. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing. All rights reserved.
