PublicationArticle Thermodynamic properties of undercooled liquids(1990) K.S. Dubey; P. Ramachandrarao; S. LeletA method based on Taylor series expansion of free energy centred at the melting temperature is developed to obtain an expression for the free energy difference between undercooled liquid and equilibrium solid. It is demonstrated that the expression so developed truly represents the free energy of the undercooled liquid by obtaining expressions for the entropy and heat capacity differences as well and comparing the values obtained from these expressions with the values calculated from experimental data for liquid gallium.
