PublicationArticle A short note on seed-borne magnetic effect on mustard, Brassica juncea L. crop(1998) N.N. Singh; K.K. Rai; Subas RaiThe seed-borne effect of discrete poles of a magnet was studied on the agroproduction of mustard crop. The study revealed a differential effect of magnetic polarities (north and south poles) on the mustard crop. The effect has been attributed to magnetically induced, long-term cytogenetic and physiological transformations produced in the exposed seeds.PublicationArticle A short note on seed-borne magnetic effect on mustard, Brassica juncea L. crop(Marcel Dekker Inc., 1998) N.N. Singh; G.D. Mishra; S.P. Singh; SamarketuSpore germination of some fungi was studied in EMF-tieated water samples. Water samples were exposed to 9.575 GHz microwave modulated with square waves of different pulse repetition frequencies. The study indicates varying inhibitory effects of different modulation frequencies on spore germination of Alternaria alternata, A. tenuissima, Fusarium udum, Helminthosorium oryzae, H. turcicumand Ustilago cynodontis. The pulse repetition frequency-dependent variation in spore germination caused by irradiated water illustrates that water may have the capability to store EMF frequency effects. EMF-treated water might have caused the effect by either changing the activities of and/or deactivating the spore enzymes. © 1994 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.PublicationArticle Athermal physiological effects of microwaves on a cynobacterium Nostoc muscorum: evidence for EM-memory bits in water(Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1994) S.P. Singh; Subas Rai; A.K. Rai; S.P. Tiwari; S.S. Singh; Samarketu; J. AbrahamAthermal physiological effects of continuous wave and modulated microwaves were studied on a cynobacterium Nostoc muscorum. The study shows that different microwave frequencies in continuous wave and modulated modes produced significantly different physiological effects on the algae. Water-mediated bioeffects further present additional proof that water has the capability to remember the imposed electromagnetic field characteristics for an extended period of time. © 1994 IFMBE.PublicationArticle PublicationArticle Causes and mechanism(s) of NER bioeffects(Marcel Dekker Inc., 1997) Subas Rai[No abstract available]PublicationArticle Depositional environments of Quaternary deposits of the Son Valley as revealed by scanning electron microscopy(1987) Subas RaiTopographic irregularities as a result of weathering on quartz grains of Quaternary deposits of the Son Valley are used to interpret the sedimentary environment and transport mechanisms. About 90% quartz grains show composite features, as they contain surfaces attributed to glacio-fluvial, subaqueous and diagenetic activities. The glaciated materials of the Vindhyan range appear to have undergone fluvial cycles in the river valley during subsequent times (≤100,000 yrs B.P.), while the water velocity of the river has fluctuated throughout the Quaternary. The diagenetic characteristics suggest that wet and warm climatic conditions during subaerial weathering of the soils give rise to extensive chemical features. The arid climate with incresed surface temperature is responsible for producing a rolling topography as a result of silica solution and precipitation. In cold and arid climatic conditions only mechanical features predominate. © 1987.PublicationArticle Effect of 50-hz-powerline-exposed water on spore germination of some fungi(Informa Healthcare, 1995) U.P. Singh; Subas Rai; S. Singh; P.K. SinghGermination responses of some fungal spores to 50-Hz-powerline-treated water were studied. Water samples were exposed to 24.8 (RMS) and 35.0 (peak) μT and 36.2 (RMS) and 51.2 (peak) μT powerline magnetic fields for 32 h and sampled at regular intervals of 4 h. Five hours after exposure, germination responses of different fungal spores were observed in treated water. The study revealed that exposure time- and magnetic field strength-dependent different water differentially inhibited the spore germinations of various fungi. The study further presents the evidence for stable changes produced in water structures by powerline exposure. © 1995 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.PublicationArticle Effect of magnetically induced water structure on the oestrous cycles of albino female mice mus musculus(Marcel Dekker Inc., 1996) Sarita Pandey; T.K. Garg; K.P. Singh; Subas RaiThe effect of magnetically pregenerated water structures was studied on oestrous cycles (OC) and body weight changes in cycling female albino mice. The result showed that exposure time-dependent, magnetically generated water structures produced by different polarities of a magnet produce differential effects on the OC and body weight of cycling mice. We believe that magnetically induced water structures may have caused these effects by influencing states of the central nervous system, activities of the gonadal hormones, and thus altering the physiological processes of cycling mice.PublicationArticle Effect of magnetically induced water structure on the oestrous cycles of albino female mice Mus Musculus(Marcel Dekker Inc., 1996) Sarita Pandey; T.K. Garg; N. Agarwal; Subas RaiThe effect of magnetic pole and exposure time dependent water structures on liver of a fish Clarias batrachus was studied. Magnetic restructuring of water was done for 1, 3, 5, and 8 h of exposure at 0.297 0.003 T. Study revealed that magnetically restructured water induced different changes of hepatic cell density, size, and nuclear diameter. We suggest that this is due to differential partitioning between and among the extracellular, intracellular, and nuclear solutions. The degenerative changes are highly significant. © 1995 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.PublicationArticle Effect of water's microwave power density memory on fungal spore germination(Informa Healthcare, 1994) Subas Rai; U.P. Singh; G.D. Mishra; S.P. Singh; SamarketuThe effect of absorbed microwave power in water on germination of some fungal spores was seen. Water samples were exposed to 2.71 GHz microwave at varying incident power density. Incident and absorbed power by water were determined using power sensor and meter. Germination responses of different fungal spores taken from fresh cultures were studied in the microwave power-absorbed-water samples. The study revealed differential germination responses with variation of the absorbed microwave power in water on different fungi. Results indicated that water has the capability to store microwave power alterations. © 1994 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.PublicationArticle Germination responses of fungal spores to magnetically restructured water(Informa Healthcare, 1994) Subas Rai; U.P. Singh; K.P. Singh; Amitabh SinghThe effect of magnetically restructured water was examined on spore germination of some fungi. Restructuring of water was done by exposing the water samples separately to dipoles of a 0.3 T permanent magnet for variable lengths of time. Spore germination of some fungi was observed by mixing the spores in a drop of restructured water samples on separate depression glass slides and incubating the slides for 24 h at 27 ± 2°C. Fungal spores for the present study were obtained from freshly grown cultures of Alternaria alternata, A. carthami, A. mali, A. sesamicola, Aspergillus niger, A. terreus, Fusarium liniand Helminthosporium sativum on potato dextrose Difco powder agar medium. This study reveals that changes in water structure produced by different lengths of exposure by different magnetic poles (of a permanent magnet) differentially inhibit spore germination of various fungi. The varying inhibitory effects of water exposed to different magnetic poles indicates the possible existence of magnetic-pole memory in water. © 1994 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.PublicationArticle Magnetic restructuring of water(Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1995) Subas Rai; N.N. Rai; Subas RaiCombined effects of magnetically restructured water and different concentrations of endosulfan on the mortality of aphid populations were studied. The study revealed that magnetically altered water structures have the ability to synergize the efficacy of insecticides. It was inferred that synergistic effects of electromagnetic water structures could be used in managing crop pests and controlling human as well as animal diseases, thereby using less than recommended concentrations of pesticides, antibiotics, etc.PublicationArticle Magnetically altered water enhances endosulfan insecticidal efficacy in mustard aphids(Marcel Dekker Inc., 1998) N.N. Roy; Subas RaiWe studied the effect of 50 Hz powerline-treated nutrient on morphological and cytogenetic responses of Vicia faba L. Nutrient samples were exposed to a uniform field of 50 Hz, 51.2 μT (peak) for 48 h. Our study reveals that 50 Hz EM-field-induced nutrient solutions act as mutagens and produce discrete morphological and cytogenetic effects. We believe that powerline field-induced alterations in structural organizations of nutrient water caused these effects by spatially partitioning the ions, complexing the ingredients, interfering with metabolic and physiological pathways, and affecting the synthesis and organization of cytological infrastructures.PublicationArticle Morphological and cytogenetic effect of 50 Hz EM-field-induced nutrient solution on Vicia faba L.(Marcel Dekker Inc., 1996) Poonam Singh; B.K. Garg; J.B. Singh; D. Kumar; B.N. SinghA solution-mediated effect of extremely low-frequency (ELF) powerline (50-Hz) field was studied on the physiology of a cyanobacterium, Nostoc muscorum. Samples were exposed to 35- and 51.2- μT uniform fields for different lengths of time. The electromagnetic field produced significantly different effects, varying with the length of exposure and field strength. The effects were attributed to differential changes in the structural chemistry of the solution. Treated solutions were suggested to have caused the effects by selective sorting of ions and bringing about conformational changes in biomolecules and the systems.PublicationArticle Physiologic Effect of 50-Hz EMF-Induced Nutrient Solution on a Cyanobacterium, Nostoc muscorum(Marcel Dekker Inc., 1999) Subas Rai; Tarun K.
