Abstract

The antihepatotoxic activity of Eclipta alba was studied by in vivo assay methods using carbon tetrachloride induced acute hepatitis in albino rats. Administration of different extracts of Eclipta alba significantly inhibited the CCl4 induced increase in the transaminases and alkaline phosphatase activity. Of all the extracts maximum hepatoprotective activity was observed in MeOH extract followed by ethyl acetate and petroleum ether extracts of Eclipta alba.
