Synthesis, characterization, ir spectra and other studies of some mercury(II) chloride, nitrate and thiocyanate complexes of organic acid hydrazides and hydrazones

Abstract

Polymeric complexes of the empirical composition Hg(L-H)Cl and Hg2(L-2H)Cl2[L = benzoylhydrzide (BH), oxaldihydrazide (ODH), malondihydrazide (MDH), isopropanonebenzoylhydrazone (IBH), isopropanoneoxalaihydrazone (IODH) and isopropanonemalondihydrazone (IMDH)] have been prepared and characterized by analytical and infrared spectral data, X-ray powder diffraction and polarographic studies. Some of the complexes tested for antifungal and antibacterial activity are more active than the ligands. © 1987 by Marcel Dekker, Inc.
