Eco-friendly and facile one-pot multicomponent synthesis of acridinediones in water under microwave

Abstract

A rapid, improved, and environmentally benign synthesis of 4-arylacridinediones is reported via one-pot multicomponent reaction of aromatic aldehydes, dimedone, and ammonium acetate in water without any catalyst under microwave irradiation. Excellent yields, shortest reaction time, and easy work-up are attractive features of this green protocol. © 2010 HeteroCorporation.
