dc.description.abstractA generalised shell model is presented to study the lattice dynamics of ionic crystals by incorporating the electron shell deformation and zero-point vibration effects in the shell model. The model makes nearest approach to the quantum mechanical shell model of Sinha and seems to be eminently suitable for the purpose. © 1972.
