Abstract

The combined buoyancy effects of thermal and mass diffusion on viscous incompressible hydromagnetic flows confined between two infinite vertical parallel porous plates moving in opposite directions while one plate is executing oscillations about a constant mean has been examined. Mean velocity, mean temperature, the phase and the amplitude of skin friction and the rate of heat transfer for different values of Prandtl number, Schmidt number, Grashof numbers, magnetic field parameter and Eckert number have been shown graphically. The numerical values of skin friction and mean rate of heat transfer have been calculated. The equations governing the problem are also solved approximately for velocity, temperature and concentration distributions.
