Abstract

A production mechanism is suggested to test the production of a glueball resonance in the process π-p→φφn. Our results indicate that the gT resonance in this process corresponds to a quarkonium (ss̄) state, because the theoretically expected absolute rate of peripheral glueball production is larger than that experimentally observed. © 1985 The American Physical Society.
