Hemoglobin, hematocrit and red cell count in school children

Abstract

The hemoglobin, hematocrit, red cell count and red cell indices were investigated in 2624 children. A rise in hemoglobin, hematocrit and red cell count with increasing age was noted. The mean hemoglobin value was over 12 gm% in all age groups for boys and girls. The mean corpuscular volume, the mean corpuscular hemoglobin and the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration did not alter significantly with age and sex.
