Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) poses significant challenges in management due to its chronic nature and variable response to conventional therapies. Nanotechnology emerges as a promising avenue for the development of novel strategies to diagnose, treat, and monitor IBD. This chapter explores the current state of nanotechnology applications in managing IBD, encompassing drug delivery systems, imaging techniques, and biomarker detection methods. It delves into the principles underlying nanotechnology-based interventions, their advantages over traditional approaches, and their potential to address unmet clinical needs in IBD management. Additionally, the chapter discusses challenges, future directions, and ethical considerations surrounding the integration of nanotechnology into IBD care. © 2026 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved..
