Emission Sources of Particulate Matter

Abstract

Particulate matter is recognised to have profound effect on environment and climate changes. It is essential that the sources of particulate matter in atmosphere are well understood and quantified to provide a sound basis for formulating policies for the reduction in anthropogenic influences on climate. For the formulation of preliminary estimate of particulate matter burden and impacts, it is necessary to know the relative importance of generation of these particles and the relevant pathways in atmosphere. This chapter provides an overview on emission sources of particulate matters in the atmosphere.
