Abstract

Intelligent robots with senses may execute different sequences of operations. Robotized manufacturing systems (RMS) permit one to automate typical assembly operations in FMS to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of the system. Loading and sequencing, as a composite of interdependent tasks, constitute important aspect of scheduling problem in FMS. Mathematical formulations for scheduling problem with the objective of workload balance and job lateness are presented and solution methodologies are discussed. Applications of robotics in the present problem environment are indicated.
