A generalized parity dependent model for couple fertility

Abstract

A probability distribution for the number of conceptions to a female during a given time interval since marriage has been derived assuming fecundability to be parity dependent. The distribution involves several parameters. A procedure for finding the estimate of some of the parameters has been outlined. The model has been applied to some observed distributions. The use of the model in the evaluation of family planning programme is also illustrated.
