Item Synthesis and electrical characterization of starch based electrolyte system(Department of Physics, 2017-03-31) Srivastava, NeelamToday's lifestyle (use of too many portable electronic gadgets) demands large amount of energy. Till now the synthetic polymers with lithium salts are being used to develop portable energy devices. It is adding to world’s chemical garbage. Hence for sustainable development it is very important that the constituent materials of energy devices are eco-friendly, low cost and easy to synthesis/handle. Electrolytes prepared in this project are based on starch (abundant in nature, renewable biopolymer, low cost and easy to handle) and sodium salt (cheaper than lithium, abundant in nature) and the preparation methodology is simple and it does not need costly instrumentations. Preliminary testing of the prepared materials for supercapacitor and Microbial fuel cell device fabrication is very encouraging. Hence present proposal has successfully framed the guidelines for future developments of sustainable energy devices
